Who needs a visa to enter and stay in Italy?

All foreign nationals from non-EU countries who intend to come to Italy must apply for an entry visa at the Italian consular representation in their country of origin or residence. Exceptions apply to nationals of third countries listed in Annex II of Regulation (EC) of 15 March 2001, who require a visa only if they plan to stay for more than 90 days.

Who is entitled to Italian citizenship?

Those entitled to apply for recognition of Italian citizenship include: the child of a father or mother who holds Italian citizenship at the time of the child’s birth; a foreign national who has been married or in a civil union with an Italian citizen for at least three years (reduced to two years in the presence of children); and a foreign national who has resided continuously in Italy for at least ten years.

Who can apply for international protection in Italy?

The right to apply for international protection in Italy belongs to any non-EU foreign national who believes they cannot return to their country of origin due to a well-founded fear of persecution or serious harm, or to any stateless person who believes they would face such risks in their habitual country of residence.
